I woke this morning tired and like most really didn't want to get out of bed. In a few weeks time i'll be sleeping better and getting up won't seem as bad. Why? I have started the Yeast Free Diet!!
So here Goes...
For my breakfast i've had homemade Pancakes
I don't have measurements as i've been making them for that long i just put two heaped dessert spoons of flour (gluten free) one Egg and Rice Milk until i get a smooth batter. I'll add more flour if needed too.
Heat some Olive Oil in a Frying Pan or Pancake Pan and add the Batter when really hot, flip when needed and then toss onto a plate. Voila, your Breakfast!
I sometimes add Walnuts to the Pancake. I cannot have Sugar so Honey or Maple Syrup is out of the question.
Here's a list of foods that you CANNOT eat on this diet:
- Brewers Yeast
- Chocolate
- Coffee
- Go light on tea, except green tea.
- All sweeteners including sugar, honey, maple syrup, stevia, Equal, corn syrup, evaporated cane juice, Splenda, sucralose, etc.
- Fruit juice
- Dried fruit, mushrooms, peanuts (raisins are dried fruit).
- Citric Acid (like lemon, lime or orange).
- Vinegar and all vinegar products (mayo, mustard, salsa, dressings, etc).
- All dairy including milk, cheese, yogurt, ice cream, butter. Eggs are not dairy.
- Yeast in any form. Including most breads.
- Soy sauce and all fermented products like sauerkraut, and pickles.
- Processed meats that contain sodium nitrites. Eat only hormone free meats.
- Hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils. Use olive oil instead.
- Spicy seasonings such as chili, cinnamon, pepper. Some herbs are ok including basil, thyme, oregano, and parsley.
- No fruit in any form including fresh, canned, dried or frozen.
- Vegetables - especially dark green leafy ones.
- Beans of any variety.
- Meat protein, including beef, poultry, fish and shellfish, and fresh (uncured) pork.
- Eggs
- Whole grains, including rice, barley, millet, couscous, and buckwheat.
- Whole grain oatmeal and pasta; corn, rice or spelt pasta.
- Unprocessed seeds and nuts.
- Vegetable oils which are unrefined (the kind that must be refrigerated).
Well i got to 10.30am on my Pancake not bad considering i ate that at 7.00am and i'm usually ravinous by 8.30am! For a snack and keep my eyes away from the large tin of Cadbury's chocolate biscuits that are still in the Office i had a Rice Cake with Cashew Butter which is a bit like Peanut Butter without the rubbish. It's shounds grose but it is really tasty.
Lunch was a bed of Italian Lettuce, Tomatoes, Walnuts and Sunflower seeds with Tuna and Olive Oil and that was MIGHTY GOOD! The problem is i want more or something sugary like the biscuits that are staring at me! Turn away...turn away...
Not sure what i'm having for Dinner but i've got some Chicken. I may try the Herb Roast Chicken on
http://www.theyeastdiet.com/yeast-free-recipes.html or i may make a Chicken Curry. Curry Powder has to be used in moderation i believe so i won't be having an Indian for a while! This option though will depend on whether i have some Brown Rice in my Cupboard.
I shall let you know later how i get on and will take some photo's of my delightful cookery skills NOT!
Here's what i had for Dinner..
I decided to go for a Chicken Curry but my problem is getting organised. After a long day at work the last thing i want to do is make a full meal from scratch but i have to. My Daughter as i've mentioned before is Coeliac therefore i've always cooked from scratch so i'm used to feeling this way. Anyway this is what i did my way.
Please note the 'you shouldn't have food list' does say that you shouldn't have spices such as Chilli, Curry Powder etc but if i have it now and again it doesn't really effect me so i think you will have to see if you're ok with it, if it does effect you then don't have them again.
Chicken Fillets
Olive Oil
Masdras Curry Powder
Cumin
Garlic Cloves
Chili powder
Yeast Free Stock Cube (Antony Worrall Thompson does a fab one)
Heat a pan with Olive Oil
Cut your Chicken into pieces and add to the pan and brown
Cut Garlic into small slices or pieces and add to the chicken
2tsp of Madras Powder
1tsp Cumin
pinch of chilli powder
You could use a fresh chilli if you prefer.
Add your stock cube melted into some boiling water and add this to the pan, simmer until reduced
I just made it all up but it was blumming gorgeous if i say so myself. My son said someone had passed it through the window!!! Cheeky........
