A very exciting Afternoon...

I love Ikea! NOT!

It's probably the last place i want to spend my Saturday afternoon when i'm off work but actually  i enjoyed the time i had with my children and my Son came! YYYaaaaayyyy now that's rare!

My Daughter is Coeliac and loves to go to Ikea for Lunch as they do Gluten Free Deserts!  She says it's the only place she can eat and feel normal.  She is normal and always tell her that, she just has a Gluten Intolerance like many others but when you're 13 (she was diagnosed at two years old) she is just becoming very aware of the none gluten world and the challenges you face when eating out. She now has to take more responsibility for her Intolerance as she is more and more away from me and I'm not there to help her choose.  But today we needed a new unit for her bedroom to house her TV and a few bits and bobs so off we trekked. Not having a great deal of money to spend we knew Ikea wouldn't let us down.

Before taking a look around we all went for something to eat.

Sam had Fish, Chips and Peas with this for afters

mmmmmmmmm Torture!

Oh God i struggled, the smells of the restaurant, the glutenous delights that stood before me were almost telling me to eat them i swear.  My head was saying 'go on have it one more time' my brain thank fully told me to stop and this was only at the start of  the food line!  I then get to the warm cooked foods and what was on the menu!? DUCK with garlic potato!  OMG!!! It smelled so good......HELP!!!! Quickly in a torrettes kind of way i shouted 'Chips! A bowl of CHIPS!!!!'  (fries to you lot in the US x)  I know these are not fried with anything that could be contaminated and although I'm trying to cut down on white potato for now i had to have them to stop me from temptation!

Isobel had a bowl of chips as they had nothing on the main meal menu today for her to eat but the chips, she didn't mind as the real reason she loves to go is this!

Gail? This is the remainder of mine!

Poor Mum only had Olives with Pimento but I love Olives so i didn't mind

This is one of the challenges you find on a Yeast Free diet or any kind of elimination diet, so whether you do through choice or if you have a Dairy or Gluten allergy etc is when you want to eat out.  Lots of restaurants will cater for Intolerance's but when you ask them to cook something Yeast Free they look at you like you're an Alien!  What no Sauce? What no Salad Dressing?

Maybe in a few years to come as people become more aware of the problems yeast causes we may see restaurants, cafes and eateries catering for  us Aliens!
